Here is the newest grain in the shop: Torrified Wheat.
Torrified Wheat – Torrified wheat is a pre-gelatinized UNMALTED brewers wheat that can be used as a cereal grain/adjunct in the mash, and can replace malted wheat if you desire. Increases body and head retention, as well as adding a very slight toasted flavor. Very similar to flaked wheat. We recommend using Rice Hulls with this grain to avoid a stuck mash. Some information will say you don’t need to mill this product. Because it is whole kernel wheat, we recommend milling torrified wheat.
Simpsons Double Roasted Crystal Malt (DRC) – Roasty and toasty with a sweet aftertaste, with malt flavors of heavy caramel, and subtle taste of plums and raisins. Due to its unique production process, Simpsons’ DRC® can be used to substitute darker roasted malts in Dark Beers where the astringency and bitterness inherent to roast malts is not desired. This means that it can be used at a higher rate in the grist to add complex caramel and dried fruit notes with a beautiful red-brown hue.
